Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to stimulate your body’s natural collagen and elastin production. Using a device with ultra-fine, medical-grade needles, controlled micro-channels are created in the skin to trigger the natural healing process, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.

Microneedling can effectively improve fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and surgical scars, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and texture, sun damage and pigmentation, stretch marks, and mild skin laxity, leaving the skin smoother, firmer, and more radiant over time.

The entire procedure takes between 60-75 minutes, this includes a cleanse, numbing, and the microneedling. Downtime varies from client to client, with mild redness and sensitivity lasting 24-72 hours, allowing most clients to return to normal activities within a day.

FAQ:

How many treatments will I need?

This is completely dependent on your personal skin goals! Most people notice a glow after 1 treatment, but for real results, we recommend 3-6 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Microneedling works by stimulating collagen. Since our bodies are naturally losing collagen over time, a series helps rebuild and maintain it, for longer-lasting results.

Do I need a consultation?

A consultation prior to the date of your appointment is not required, but its always welcome. We’ll go through a full consultation at your treatment time to discuss your skin concerns, answer any questions you may have, and make sure you feel confident before we begin.

What areas of the skin can be treated?

Microneedling can be performed on most areas. Most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, and décolleté.

What does the treatment feel like?

Everybody’s sensitivity is different. Most clients find the treatment very tolerable. We apply numbing beforehand, so typically it feels like a light pressure, with a vibrating and scratching sensation. The most sensitive areas tend to be the forehead, around the hairline, nose, and upper lip.

Is there any down-time with this treatment?

Downtime for microneedling is fairly minimal. You can expect some redness, slight sensitivity, and possible dryness for 24-72 hours after your treatment.

What is the recommended pre & post care?

Before your treatment, avoid retinol and physical & chemical exfoliants for 5-7 days, as well as limiting sun exposure for at least 48 hours prior. After your treatment, once 24 hours has passed, you must wear a minimum of SPF 30 everyday for 7-14 days. Avoid heat/sweating for 24-48 hours, and avoid wearing any makeup for 48 hours. No active ingredients (Retinol, AHA/BHA, Vitamin C, etc.) for at least 5-7 days. Use gentle products only for the first 3-7 days.

Who should avoid this treatment?

Individuals with severe active acne, infections, or inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area are not suitable candidates for microneedling at this time. Clients who are taking medications that increase photosensitivity, such as Accutane, must wait a minimum of 6 months after discontinuing the medication before undergoing treatment. Additionally, microneedling cannot be performed on individuals who are currently taking blood-thinning medications.

Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?

Yes! It pairs well with many of the other treatments we offer. One of our favourite approaches is combining microneedling with Clear + Brilliant as part of a customized treatment plan to enhance and maximize your results.
